Queen of the South attacking trio wiped out after first half against Alloa

QUEENS chief Peter Murphy was left scratching his head after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Alloa

It was a horror opening 45 for the manager as he watched all three of his forward players suffer ‘freak’ hamstring injuries.

Brennan Dickenson was first to sit down on the astroturf, clutching the back of his leg, before last week’s match winner Pharrell Willis had a similar issue five minutes later.

Just before half time Kai Kennedy winced following a forward run, he hobbled about until the whistle and was replaced at the break.

The Doonhamers went behind on 53 minutes after Luke Rankin found the net.

But the home side equalised on the hour mark when Josh Walker hit an exquisite strike into the top corner.

Speaking after the match, Murphy said: “It’s strange because before the game we said – it’s great, this is the first time this season that we’ve had everybody to choose from.

“And you look at your training, but we did less this week than what we did last week. But it was not by a lot.

“They’re just freak injuries.”

He added: “I will be thinking about it all weekend, how and why it may have happened. Was it the 5.30 pm kick off? Do we have to make the players do something earlier in the day?

“That can’t happen again.”
