Racist flyers upset residents

“SICK racist” leaflets have been posted through letterboxes across Dumfries.

Several residents from Marchfields, Summerpark and the Cargenbridge area have all reported that they’ve received the disturbing flyers in the past week.

One person – who wished to remain anonymous – told the Dumfries Courier that they had previously received similar hate pamphlets in late May. She said: “I can’t believe stuff like this is happening. It’s vile. The leaflets were quite hateful and had frightening images on them.”

They contained racial phrases and pictures. They also claim that political parties are “brainwashing” everyone, “all traitors to the people of Britain,” and “all parties will continue the replacement of white Britons”.

Another homeowner, who also wished to remain anonymous, said: “I saw a man posting leaflets and one came through the door. I couldn’t believe how sick and racist they were. I immediately phoned the police about this.

“It’s sickening and so hurtful. We can’t let racist people win. Something needs to be done.”

A third person described the leaflets as “racist political propaganda”.

Earlier this month, residents in Thornhill similarly reported vile leaflets had been posted through the doors.

This angered members of the Dumfries and Galloway Trade Union Council who then printed their own ones blasting those responsible for the original leaflets.

Police Scotland was contacted for comment.
