Railway Club faces closure

A DUMFRIES social club is facing the potential threat of permanent closure.

The Railway Club, located in the town centre, has been closed since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. And now members will be asked to vote on its future at a meeting on November 5 starting at 7 pm.

It comes after the club’s annual general meeting last Friday when around 50 members attended.

News of next month’s crucial meeting was put on social media by member Marie Sinclair.

She said: “I was at the AGM for the Railway Club, I’m horrified to find out that they are wanting to vote to close this fantastic part of Dumfries which I’m sure holds many memories from all the members and family that have passed through.

“All paid up members will be able to vote yes or no to the closure. “Please tell everyone, as I understand that many members will be unaware of the situation.”
