JUST three points separate Queen of the South and Annan Athletic ahead of today’s SPFL League One derby clash at Palmerston Park.
The Doonhamers currently sit seventh with 21 points, while Annan are eighth with 18 points on the board. The Dumfries side do have a game in hand, however.
A bumper crowd is expected in Dumfries after the home side’s push for ‘3k for derby day’.
The home crowd will be expecting victory, of that there is little doubt, while Black and Golds boss Wullie Gibson will be going to Palmerston to win.
Home fans will be eagerly awaiting the team news to find out if Brennan Dickenson is fit to play after the forward was subbed off with a tight hamstring against Kelty Hearts.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if Athletic club captain Tommy Muir will continue as striker or drop back into the centre of defence.
Queens boss Peter Murphy said: “It’s building up to be a great game over the Christmas period. We need to get back on track really quick and that starts on Saturday.”
Gibson said: “We need to go there with belief and do the basics well. The fans will turn out for us and we want to give them a performance to be happy and proud of.”
