Plans were submitted earlier this year after building work at the David Keswick Centre, where the club had been racing for the past seven years, meant they would require a new venue.
Their subsequent proposal was to construct a purpose-built facility near Mabie Forest.
This included the transformation of a piece of agricultural land, just off the A710, Dumfries to New Abbey Road, to form two astroturf race tracks, a drivers’ stand and two storage containers.
In their planning statement at the time, club chairman Jimmy Hamilton said: “The club is completely non-profit and is also of charitable status. We run the club to provide an area for people to race electric radio control cars. This is open to absolutely everyone.
“The club currently has a broad mix of members from older drivers down to children from age five onwards.
“Ultimately we just need somewhere that is good value and safe for our members to participate in this fantastic hobby.”
After receiving the go ahead, Jimmy took to the club’s Facebook Group to share the news.
He said: “The Dumfries Model Car Club committee have pleasure in announcing that we have managed to secure full planning permission to develop a one acre green field site into an RC Racing facility!
“Permission is in place for two tracks, parking, track side pitting and everything else needed to create a top notch facility.
“The area is located near the Mabie Forest just a couple of miles south west of Dumfries.
“We are very excited about this venture and hope to move to this new venue during next Summer.”
