THE housing market has taken a dip in Dumfries and Galloway over the last year.
While the cost of buying a home has continued to rise across most places in the UK, this region is bucking the trend.
The average house price for Dumfries and Galloway was £164,667 in the 12 months to October 2024. That’s a slight decrease of 0.7 percent compared to October 2023, which works out as £1200 less profit per home.
These are the latest figures from the Land Registry, which also revealed that the average house price in the UK costs considerably more.
Selling for an average of £292,059 in the 12 months to October, that’s an increase of 3.4 percent compared to a year earlier, equivalent to an extra £576 on each home.
Dumfries and Galloway is not the only place seeing a price decrease, with parts of London experiencing the biggest drops in the country.
