Region to host military training

A MILITARY exercise will take place in Dumfries and Galloway next month.

The MoD this week gave advance notice of troop activity from April 14-18 from the Thornhill through to Barrhill areas.

The exercise will be small scale, with low impact on the ground. There will be small groups moving through on foot through the hills and forest areas.

An MoD spokesman said: “The impact or footprint will be minimal with little or no impact on local communities.

“There may be some helicopter activity which will be limited and away from habitated areas where possible.”
