NITH Inshore Rescue is facing a critical funding shortage and has made an urgent appeal for funds.
They desperately need cash to help cover ‘soaring’ running costs, which are threatening their life-saving operation.
Setting out the dire situation, chairman Peter Bryden this week said: “This is only the second time in our 40-year-history that we have had to ask for funds in this way, with the first being just two years ago.
“We urgently appeal to our community, individuals, and businesses to support us in any way possible and help us continue our vital work. “Every donation matters and has the power to save lives at sea and in our inland waters.”
Treasurer Jamie Milligan added: “I would like to thank all those who continue to donate and support us in what we know are difficult financial times. The individuals and companies who make regular donations, and particularly St Michael’s Services, who donate fuel for our boats and vehicles, without whose support we would not be able to operate today.
“In recent years, we have seen, like many charities a significant drop in donations coupled with a huge rise in running costs due to inflation pressures, the boat taking a particular hit in the cost of insurance and energy costs.”
Covering Dumfries and Upper Solway area, they are an independent lifeboat charity committed to saving lives from water.
As such, they hope the community, businesses, and compassionate individuals will rally together with generous donations and are signposting anyone interested to their JustGiving page.
