THREE members of Galloway Mountain Rescue Team are taking on a gruelling 108 mile race next month.
James Anderson, Karen Brownlie, and Ross McConchie are tackling the Montane Summer Spine Challenger South on June 14 to raise vital funds for Galloway Mountain Rescue Team.
The race is one of the UK’s toughest endurance races, along the Pennine Way in Derbyshire from Edale to Hardraw with a time limit of 60 hours.
The trio have been balancing their race training with their jobs and their commitments to GMRT, and with just under four weeks to go to the big race they are hopeful that they can reach their £1300 goal to purchase GMRT a remote patient monitoring system.
A spokesperson for GMRT said this week: “They’re not just doing it for the challenge. They’re doing it to raise funds for a remote patient monitoring system — vital equipment that will help track casualties’ vital signs more effectively during extractions.
“Every mile they complete is in aid of raising funds to support the team in saving lives in the hills of Galloway. They’re raising money for a remote patient monitor, a piece of life saving medical technology that will enable the team to monitor a patients vital signs whilst extracting them off the hill — tools that will make a real difference to the people rescued by the team and could well save a life.
“Let’s power their race and equip our rescuers!” To donate to the trio’s go fund me page visit: gofund.me/bdd0b875.
