Rider raises road awareness

BE SEEN and be safe - that’s the message one equestrian is promoting this month.

Emma Dinnin, who lives near Kirtlebridge, is holding a rider road safety event on Sunday September 25.

The aim is to promote the wearing of hi viz items by both rider and horse when out and about and to educate drivers on how to pass horses safely.

The Pass Wide and Slow Awareness Ride/Drive will be on roads in and around Eaglesfield. Times tbc.

Participants are instructed to meet at the field at DG11 3LS or Allerbeck farm yard, weather depending.

The ten mile route will then go through Eaglesfield and out towards Waterbeck, through the village, turning to Gair.

Emma said: “It will just be a nice walk, possibly the odd trot. All level of riders welcome and as much Hi Viz to be worn on you and your horse as possible.”
