Rink reopening talks

TENTATIVE plans have been made to reopen Lockerbie Ice Rink.

The board of directors met last week and it was agreed that the rink would open for skating before Christmas and curling would recommence in the first week in January.

Chairwoman Margaret Taylor said: “There are many hurdles to cross before that happens and the safety of our members and customers remains our first concern.

“However, if Covid-19 is kept at a low level we think we can open safely for a shortened season.

“It won’t be the same for skaters or curlers but we hope we can make the place feel safe and welcoming for you to enjoy your sport and meet friends, old and new.

“Even if, like me, you won’t be able to get on the ice this season, you can still visit the clubroom and café.”

Further details about the reopening and memberships will be released in due course.
