Rise in domestic abuse

THREE domestic abuse incidents are reported to police in the region every day.

And new figures show there were 1246 cases in Dumfries and Galloway last year, 200 more incidents than the year before.

Galloway and West Dumfries’s Finlay Carson is concerned at the sharp rise locally.

He said: “It is clear that we must do more to root out the scourge of domestic abuse.”
