AN extra 7000 people in this region have already applied for a postal vote for May’s Scottish Parliament elections.

And Dumfries and Galloway Council officials expect more applications before the deadline on April 6.

Meanwhile, 5964 letters were sent to people in Dumfries and Galloway on the shielding list by Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer. The missives outlined the process for postal or proxy votes and information on how to apply.
