Town roads layout changes in focus

A PUBLIC exhibition is set to cast more light on proposed changes to roads in Dumfries serving the new hospital.

The display is in Troqueer Primary school on Wednesday February 15 from 2 pm to 7.30 pm.
Abbey Ward councillor Tom McAughtrie said: “Members of the public can drop in any time between those hours, see what the plans are for both the Pleasance Avenue and New Abbey Road junction with the lights and pedestrian crossing and obviously road realignments at Park Road and Dalbeattie Road.
“Plans will be on display, and obviously people can leave their comments for and against.”
Councillor McAughtrie added: “I would certainly encourage all the residents in that area and anybody else with an interest in using the roads there to pop along, have a look at the plans and discuss them with the officers that will be there, and then leave any comments they wish to leave.”
Concerns over the proposals, particularly regarding a change which it is feared may see a realigned Park Road indicated as a main route into the town, were raised by Councillor McAughtrie at last month’s economy, environment and infrastructure committee — prompting a delay to allow further consultation.
