RESURFACING work on the A7 is set to finish tomorrow with a second wave of work beginning on Monday.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will resurface over 1.2 km of carriageway to create safer journeys for motorists in the region.
Work on the road was started on Monday and will finish tomorrow, with work resuming on Monday 15 and ending on Friday 19.
Because of this, the A7 has been closed in both directions during nights between 7.30 pm and 6 am.
A signed diversion will be in place between Hawick and Canonbie via the A6088, B6357 and B7201. This diversion will add approximately 7.7 miles and 20 minutes to affected journeys.
BEAR Scotland’s South East network manager Tommy Deans said: “These surfacing improvements will result in smoother and safer journeys for motorists using this stretch of the A7.
“While a carriageway closure is essential for safety, we’ve scheduled the works overnight in order to minimise disruption to journeys. We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”
