Trading Standards has been alerted to incidents and have warned people to be on their guard.
A statement read: “Rogue traders often use persuasive and aggressive tactics to pressure householders into having home improvement work done, and in some cases to gain access into the home.
“Please don’t engage with cold callers or agree to having work done without seeking several quotes from local reputable traders – consider using a Trusted Trader.
“Keep an eye out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours and share this advice with them.”
Report suspicious callers to Advice Direct Scotland on 0808 164 6000 or Police Scotland on 101.
A Trading Standards spokesman said: “If you feel threatened or intimidated by a doorstep caller, dial 999 and ask for police.”
