A PAR-FECT golf day raised over £2000 for Dumfries and Galloway charities.
Lochmaben-based pitched roof tile manufacturer, Russell Roof Tiles (RRT) hosted another successful golf day recently to raise vital funds for its charity initiative, ‘Give4Good’.
The tournament at Lochmaben Golf Club was organised by Ian Jones, and Alan Young, along with James Pendleton, Mike Whitehead, Liam Parsons and Colin Varrie and attended by 28 people with mainly Russell Roof Tiles team members taking part, alongside some invited guests from the company’s HQ in Burton-on-Trent.
The team played well, and came out with some great wins, with Ian Jones winning the overall single and pairs, along with Scott Gordon; David Macrone secured the longest drive, with Bruce Laidlaw taking home the prize of nearest the pin. The day was a great success for everyone involved.
Company managing director Andrew Hayward commented: “The team did another great job fundraising for our Give4Good pot, and I would like to thank them and everyone that donated. This year, the Golf Day was a great way of being able to raise further funds and add to the pot for our chosen charities.”
A total of £2020 was raised from the event which will be added to the Give4Good charity fund to go towards this year’s fundraising goal of £40,000. Recipients of the fundraising this year include Veterans Garden Dumfries, which provides a safe place for serving and local Veterans and families to meet; D&G Canine Rescue, a charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs; The First Base Agency, which provides around 4000 food parcels across Dumfries and Galloway every year; Lockerbie Wildlife Trust, who run an annual programme of talks, visits and workshops relating to wildlife and conservation for members, schools and other interested parties; and Moffat Mountain Rescue Team.
