School bids for 20mph zone

GRETNA Primary School is hoping to implement 20mph speed limits on roads surrounding the school.

The government scheme has been rolling out across Dumfries and Galloway during 2022 and will now be stopping at Gretna and Gretna Green.

However, before the plans can be put in action, consultations with Police Scotland, ward members and community councillors will need to be held.

Three draft proposals have been created by the school and sent to Springfield and Gretna Green Community Council, which were reviewed on Wednesday evening.

Each draft contained maps highlighting which roads would be affected by the speed limit,

Members gave their unanimous approval to the drafts.
