Sharks see off Hawks in Halloween thriller

The Solway Sharks defeated Blackburn Hawks 5-2 after the third period.

Sharks head coach Martin Grubb spoke to Sharks TV after the game.

He said: “We gifted them a couple of goals with slack play, but they’ve still got to finish them and it gave them something to hold on to.

“For two periods we huffed and we puffed, I thought we were average.

“We had to have an honest conversation at the end of the second period.

“I said to them that if we never won tonight the league could be over.

“I think once we got our noses in front we were okay and it was a big two points for us and I’m just glad that we managed to get them.

“Teams get up for playing us, we say it every week to the players, we are the team with the championship hats on, but you’ve got to earn your win.

“They deserve credit and our players deserve credit for finding their way in that last 20 to show why we’re the champions.”

Tomorrow evening the Sharks welcome Sheffield Scimitars to Dumfries.
