Shepherd rules changed

A HEARTFELT plea has been made by the organisers of Moffat Gala.

As of Monday, the Moffat Shepherd and Lass Club had been so far unable to recruit a Shepherd for the gala role and as a result they have extended the age bracket.

In a bid to ‘not have old traditions die’ the club has opened up the key role to males between the ages of 18 and 35, where previously the cut-off was 25.

In an online statement the club said: “Due to considerable lack of interest for the 2022 role of Shepherd, we have had to come to the decision as a committee to change the age bracket.

“If you are interested in this role and would love to represent Moffat and our club, then please get in touch via Facebook messenger or alternatively contact a committee member.

“Let’s not have old traditions die.”

Applicants must still live within the Moffat and Kirk- patrick Juxta parish.
