Shopping village delivers 50 jobs with extension

A BORDER shopping centre celebrated the opening of its third phase this week.

NEW ARRIVAL . . . Next Outlet opened its doors at Gretna Gateway Outlet Village yesterday

Next Outlet opened as anchor tenant in the 19,000 square foot extension to Gretna Gateway Outlet Village on Thursday.
The expansion, which will bring 50 new jobs to the region, also includes a 2000 square foot Jacques Vert store as well as an additional 6000 square foot of retail space to accommodate a further three stores.
And the new arrivals will join a host of leading High Street brands including M&S Outlet, Berghaus, Nike, Gap Outlet, Clarks Outlet and Molton Brown.
Gretna Gateway’s general manager Peter Gardner said: “The arrival of more major brands is great news for Gretna Gateway shoppers and for the local community, which is seeing the creation of further jobs for the area.
“We already have an extremely popular tenant mix offering excellent quality and value all-year-round, and that has helped us to buck the Scottish and UK retail growth trends for the past six years, in spite of fierce competition from both High Street and online retailers.
“The arrival of Next Outlet and Jacques Vert provides even more reasons for people to visit Gretna Gateway, and we’re confident that they will be extremely popular additions to our tenant line-up.”
The shopping centre will continue to celebrate the phase three opening this weekend with a pipe band and family entertainment from 12 noon until 4 pm tomorrow and Sunday.
And there will also be a special prize pod where shoppers who spend £5 or more in a single transaction can enter a code to see if they have won a special prize from one of the participating stores.
