A CHALLENGE to find the nation’s best shortbread is being aimed at Scottish Women’s Institute (SWI) members in the region.

The winning shortbread creator will have their recipe turned into a special buy product by one of Aldi’s bakery suppliers and will feature in 67 stores across the country.

SWI members from Dumfries and Galloway have until August 1 to submit their recipe for their favourite shortbread.

Aldi judges will then decide on their favourite entries.

All short listed recipes receive £50 worth of Aldi vouchers, with the winner receiving £250.

SWI chairwoman Christine Hutton said: “SWI members across Dumfries and Galloway are renowned for their baking skills so this is a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the experience and expertise we have among our membership.

“It is exciting to think that the winner’s shortbread could be turned into a product that will go on sale in Aldi’s Scottish stores.”
