Show is a no go

FOR the first time in its history, Dumfries and Lockerbie Agricultural Show has been cancelled.

The popular ‘country comes to town’ event, this year scheduled for August 1, will not go ahead due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Organisers had hoped to wait until the middle of next month before making a decision.

But secretary Susan Bicket this week announced a decision had been made early. She said: “The decision has been brought forward because of the UK, Scottish Government and Public Health guidance. “It is the first time the show has been cancelled. “In the foot and mouth year the show went ahead without livestock.”
