Show time for area’s beekeepers

HONEY and wax items were on show for the Western Galloway Beekeepers’ Association Honey Show.

The group held their event at Glen of Luce Hall with over 90 entries.

And judge Moyra Davidson, from Kirkbean, commented on the high quality of the entries.

Following her testing and deliberations, a prizegiving was held.

Fiona Keith receives her certificates

It included the presentation of Scottish Beekeepers Association awards by chair Dougie Major to Fiona Keith for passing her Expert Beemaster and Apiarian Beekeeping certificates.

It is over 60 years since this level was achieved by a member of Western Galloway Beekeepers Association and congratulations were extended to Fiona.

In addition, judge Moyra gave a resume of what she had been looking for in each class and her method of arriving at her decisions. This was highly informative for those entering in 2025 or in any other honey classes, such as the Royal Highland Show.

Thanks were expressed by Dougie Major to all participants, the judge and the organisers, and finally to the bees who haven’t had the easiest of years.
