Six crews battle pottery blaze

A WELL-KNOWN tourist attraction in Dalton caught fire this afternoon.

Fire units from Dumfries, Lockerbie and Annan were called to a blaze at Dalton Pottery at 2.10 pm.

Six fire crews were in action fighting what was described as ‘a substantial’ fire and the B725 was closed between Dalton and Carrutherstown.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service set up a 200 metre exclusion zone.

A man was taken to by ambulance to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

His condition is currently unknown.
