The game was two minutes long when the visitors were awarded a controversial penalty for an alleged handball. Finlay Miller dispatched the ball with confidence.
However, Newton settled into the game immediately after this and Marc Whyte eventually found the equaliser for the home side, a superb cross from Jack Marshall found the head of Marc Whyte who powered the ball into the roof of the net.
Blairmount was then unfortunate not to witness a spectacular goal. A mistake from the Queens full back saw the ball lifted high into the sky, it fell to Robert Middleton whose touch kept the ball in the air before volleying from 45 yards only to see his rebound off the bar.
Newton then had a disallowed goal for offside.

Two minutes after the restart the Creesiders took the lead. Whyte’s flick on fell into the path of Middleton who nearly burst the net with an explosive finish.
Creetown also progressed after beating Abbey Vale 3-1. A double from Josh Rennie and a Dean Agnew strike put the Ferrytoun into the next round.
Wigtown were unlucky to lose 3-1 to Lochar Thistle at Trammondford Park.
