STAFF working at a supermarket in Eastriggs are celebrating after raising £1360 for Ukraine.
It is the result of an Easter event on April 15, which involved a number of staff from the local SPAR donning fancy dress and taking part in activities for children
An Easter egg hunt, a decorated egg competition, face painting, temporary tattoos, balloon art a tombola, a raffle and a cake stand were put on, with all proceeds from the day going support the Ukraine crisis.
Tanya Wilson was one of the staff members that organised the event, and she has been blown away by all of the support from the locals, saying: “It’s an event we have being doing for a couple of years, it was obviously a bit low-key during covid, but with restrictions lifted this year we made it a fun day and decided to donate money to Ukraine this year.
“It is the highest amount we have raised for events to do with the store.
“We were overwhelmed by the response from the village and businesses who donated raffle prizes and bought tickets on tombola cake stall and raffle.
“Without the support from my staff and the people in the village, none of these events would happen. I don’t live in Eastriggs but I’m always made to feel very welcome and a part of the community.”
