Sports awards up for grabs

NOMINATIONS are being sought for this year’s Annandale and Eskdale Annual Sports Awards.

There are eight categories with prizes for sports personality of the year, team of the year, coach of the year, top volunteer, service to local sport, school sport initiative and young sports personality.
Award organisers want to hear of any of schools, teams or individuals who deserve recognition for their dedication and commitment to local sport or outstanding success in their sport during 2016.
Active Schools and Community Sport lead officer Calum Graham said: “School, club and community sport continues to develop, grow and become stronger and there have been some exceptional achievements again in 2016.
“Increased participation brings with it more teaching, more coaching, more volunteering, more competition and with it higher levels of performance. Now is your chance to recognise those who have made a significant contribution to sport in Annandale and Eskdale in 2016 or over a longer period.”
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the council website or by e-mailing [email protected].
The closing date for entries is Friday February 17 and the awards celebration will take place on March 31 in Langholm.
