Spotlight on Ewan

AN Auchencairn farmer has won the 2024 Texel Sheep Society Spotlight Award.

The judges said Ewan MacTaggart, of Rascarrel, shone out from the other finalists due to his in-depth knowledge of the breed and the society and his overall passion for all things Texel.

Society chief executive John Yates said: “Ewan is a fantastic ambassador for the breed and his commitment to Texel is second to none. I have no doubt that, in time, Ewan will fulfil all his ambitions within the breed.”

Ewan manages the flourishing Rascarrel flock, succeeding his late father Tommy, and achieved 9000gns for Rascarrel Fantastic at Lanark in 2022.

He is a member of the Solway and Tyne club branch and has enjoyed success in the their flock competition.
