CLEANING up Lochmaben’s Bruce Statue will cost £25,000, it has been revealed.
But councillors have agreed to pay the costs so the landmark is looking good for the 750th anniversary of Robert the Bruce himself.
A inspection report was distributed to members of the communities committee this week and said: “Requests have come in to have Bruce Statue in Lochmaben cleaned. This was last cleaned in 2018. A condition survey has been carried out and has highlighted that the statue would benefit from a deep clean, and small repairs carried out. “The cost of the deep clean is £25k.”
