Stick to the steps, say NHS

NHS Dumfries and Galloway is encouraging people to follow crucial steps for controlling coronavirus, as new research shows most people understand the impact of their actions.

A new YouGov survey revealed that 92 per cent of people in Scotland view the role that individuals play in suppressing the virus as important, while 89 per cent believe it is necessary to follow Scottish Government guidelines if the country is to get out of lockdown.

However, with one in ten saying they are less likely to follow guidelines if others are not following them, NHS Dumfries and Galloway has encouraged people to stick to the rules over the coming weeks and months to protect themselves, their loved ones and keep their community safe.

Interim director of public health Valerie White said: “Test and Protect is key to breaking the chains of coronavirus transmission, protecting the progress we’ve made and saving lives.

“If you have symptoms, we’re asking you to self-isolate, get tested and share details of those you’ve come into close contact with.

“If you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive and are asked to self-isolate by the NHS, it’s important to follow that advice.

“For this to work we need everyone’s help. Taking these steps, alongside following the FACTS guidelines, not only helps set a good example, it will help keep the virus under control and allow us to continue to emerge from lockdown.”

Filming took place in Scotland and Morocco in early 2024 and Annandale Herald editor Fiona Reid went on the set to meet the cast and crew and find out more about it.
