SHEEP have been stolen from a field near Lochmaben.

The flock was in fields at Maxwellbank, between the old Lochamben hospital and Watchhill road, before they were taken sometime between Tuesday and Saturday last week.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “There are indications that the sheep were walked out of the fields onto the Watchhill road, thereafter into a waiting large livestock trailer or cattle truck.

“This would likely require the use of trained dogs and or a handler.

“We are requesting any information to assist with the enquiry, particularly in relation to any suspicious activity, persons or vehicles at the time of the theft or in the days prior.”

Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting ref 2192 of 23 January.
