Storm Ali arrives

ROADS are blocked across the region and electricity is off in some places after Storm Ali hit, bringing down trees and causing motoring chaos.

The A75 was closed at Collin for a time this morning after a tree fell down, blocking the Euroroute, pictured above, but minor roads across the region have also been affected.

And the emergency services say they have also received ‘multiple reports’ of trees down, chimneys blowing over and cladding blowing off roofs.

In addition, there are reports of 12 foot trampolines blowing down streets in Stranraer and Dumfries.

Sailings from Cairnryan were cancelled this morning too.

Meanwhile, power supplies in several communities have been affected. Scottish Power have been informed.

Dumfries and Galloway Virtual Operations Support Team are co-ordinating the regional response from the ‘bunker’ in Dumfries.

The Met Office has issued an amber warning for high winds of up to 75 mph covering Dumfries and Galloway until 6 pm tonight.
