Stormtrooper spotted on the Sands

A STORMTROOPER wandering the Whitesands of Dumfries has prompted the question - who was that masked man?

That is what Jason Hunter from Castle Douglas is wishing he had asked, after a random encounter with someone dressed in full Star Wars film costume on a Saturday afternoon.
Visiting Dumfries on his moped, and filming his journeys on a helmet camera, Jason said: “I thought, ‘What the hell is this guy doing?’
“I shouted across, and he started coming across to me and said, ‘Oh, I was just out wearing the costume for fun.”
In the video posted on YouTube, the stormtrooper in white armour and helmet can he heard explaining he had decided to put it on as, ‘I’ve not worn it for a while’.
Jason is currently working on his own costume for Halloween, and describes the outfit worn by the stranger as ‘quite impressive’.
He said: “Whether he built it himself, I don’t know, but he did actually have a voice thing in it.
“When he stopped talking, it did actually make that radio mic click – as if he was talking to another stormtrooper.”
Jason continually records footage on his helmet camera when out and about on his moped.
He said: “Most of what I record is just garbage – me riding around.
“But if there’s something I spot that’s interesting I grab it and keep it, but that was the first time I’ve ever seen a stormtrooper wandering around Dumfries.”
