STRANRAER Coastal Rowing Club is gearing up to take on the rest of the world next week when the St Ayles Skiff World Championships 2025 comes to Loch Ryan
The Opening Ceremony is set to take place on Sunday and the racing programme is due to start on the following day and run through to next Saturday, with a total of twenty four races spread across the six days of competition.
Over 75 clubs from around the globe will descend on Stranraer for the international coastal rowing world championships, an event held every three years, with thousands of competitors aged between 14 to over 80, racing in traditional St Ayles skiffs.
For Stranraer’s own rowers, it’s a fantastic opportunity to represent their hometown on home waters. Many club members have been training hard over a number of months in preparation.
