HEALTH chiefs in Dumfries and Galloway say they are are alert to a national rise in cases of Group A Streptococcus infections.

And they are working with the national response team.

A spokesperson for NHS Dumfries and Galloway said: “Advice continues to be shared through appropriate channels, including the local authority’s education department and all childcare providers, around the symptoms of the associated infections and the appropriate responses.

“Nationally, all GPs and secondary care clinicians have received information via Public Health Scotland reiterating the appropriate response to Group A streptococcus and scarlet fever and advising them to be watchful for invasive Group A streptococcus.”
