Students put on free festival to engage town

A NEW music and performance festival is coming to Moffat this weekend.

The Devil’s Brief Club, named after the deep hollow in the hills of Moffat, is a one day sound and performance art festival sound taking place at the Proudfoot Institute on Saturday afternoon.

The free event will include music, sound and comedy performances, from Len Goetzee, Kevin Douglas, Odile Postic, Emma Lewis-Jones, Esyllt Angharad Lewis and Oscar Boyle.

It aims to give rural communities the opportunity to experience sound and performance art and is a student-led event, funded through the Glasgow School of Art Student Association.

The showcase is being organised by local artist and former Moffat Academy pupil, Hester Grant, who has run and participated in a number of socially engaged projects, such as organising and curating a Zine Fest in Inverness, running an Art Theory book group and hiring artists to run art writing workshops for young people in the Highlands.
