A late strike on Saturday saw Elgin reduce the deficit to just one, before Jago, on loan from Tranmere Rovers, nodded home his side’s fourth of the game to settle the nerves.
Jago was introduced just after the hour mark and took up the role of super-sub, and the 19 year-old put in a fine performance — capped off with a well-placed header.
Saturday’s victory reduced Elgin’s lead at the summit of League Two, and saw fourth placed Annan go level on points with Queen’s Park.
The Galabank side turn to the Scottish Cup this weekend, where they host Championship side Greenock Morton in the fifth round.
