Sup-pie and demand

A NEW pie, created to celebrate the The Galloway Cattle Society, has been launched to the public.

The Galloway Pie was served up at the first ever Castle Douglas Producers Market on Sunday – and proved a sellout success.

It was made by Kerr Little, owner of The Little Bakery in Dumfries, who recently became the World Scotch Pie Champion, using Real Galloway Beef as the main ingredient along with traditional gravy and a puff pastry top.

He said: “Galloway beef is truly exceptional and it has been a privilege to work with the Galloway Cattle Society in developing a pie that showcases the succulent, flavoursome nature of the beef.”

Commenting, society secretary Dorothy Goldie, pictured above with Kerr, said: “Creating a Galloway pie seemed like an ideal way to kick start our supply chain development project.”

“MIDS were advertising the role, so I got in touch with the club, had a discussion with them and we took it from there,” said new Mid Annandale manager Craig Simpson as he spoke to the Annandale Herald this week.
