Support group welcomes new members

BOSOM Pals, a Dumfries-based support and friendship group for women who have had a breast cancer diagnosis, is hosting an awareness-raising evening next week.

The group has been meeting weekly at Heathhall Garden Centre in Dumfries for the past nine years, after friends Linda McKay and Marion McCutcheon recognised the need for continuous support after a breast cancer diagnosis.

Some of the members meet every Tuesday at Heathhall for a walk, while others join them later for lunch or a coffee at Pat’s Pantry, within the garden centre from 12.30 pm.

Linda says: “The aim of the group is to make life a little easier during and after treatment offering ongoing support, friendship and mutual respect.”

As well as the weekly meetings, the group also has a WhatsApp chat to keep in touch and support members.

Anyone interested in finding out more about Bosom Pals is invited to the Coffee and Cake evening at Heathhall Garden Centre on Tuesdau January 10 at 7 pm.

The event has been supported by the Barr family and staff at the garden centre along with Barbours, Hidden Sanctuary, Andrea James Exercise Professional and Dougie Smith.

“We are a very friendly bunch,” says Linda. “You’ll be made most welcome . . . and feel free to bring a friend along.”
