Supporting the region’s employers

A NEW free interactive guide for employers in Dumfries and Galloway has been developed to help businesses navigate through funding, incentives and support that is available to help grow and develop their workforce.

The guide, which can be accessed under ‘Downloads’ at www.dgtap.co.uk/employers has been created following discussions with employers who wanted an easy way to understand the help and assistance that is available within the region, including incentives for recruiting and training staff, apprenticeships, and broader business support.

The guide was developed by the D&G Employer Engagement Partnership and is being distributed to businesses through all employability partners including Dumfries and Galloway Council, Dumfries and Galloway Chamber of Commerce and local training providers. The Employer Engagement Partnership, part of the Local Employability Partnership in Dumfries and Galloway, works together to provide support for employers based in D&G. Their aim is to provide a joined-up approach to support local employment needs, with partners working collaboratively to promote Fair Work and help create, support, and sustain a skilled workforce locally.

Commenting, Cllr Rob Davidson said: “With all partners working together, this is joined-up employer support which is intended to assist all employers in our region. It should help them to access expert advice from those who are at the forefront of business support.”

Kenny Bowie, president of D&G Chamber of Commerce, added: “We are delighted to support the launch of this guide which I believe provides invaluable guidance and support to businesses across Dumfries and Galloway.”
