A HISTORY tour of Lockerbie will take place this weekend, looking at how the town has changed.
The free town trail is being led by George Trudt, of the popular Lockerbie Past and Present Facebook page, and he says it will be a ‘great opportunity’ for people to learn more about the town and share their own stories.
It starts at McJerrow Park at 10 am and will last about two hours.
Message George if you wish to take part or have mobility issues.
Meanwhile, he shared this photo yesterday and said: “This old pic was probably taken just around the very early part of the 1900s before the Tower buildings were built.
“Douglas the Chemists on the right. Also, The Millinery and Mantle’s shop (hats and outer cloaks or garments). The sign for the Royal Hotel is just visible and you can make out the old cottages at the base of the street where it used come into the town at one time before the railway bridge was constructed, and the gable of the taller Cross Keys Inn.”
