Tapestry prize delights weaver

A THORNHILL weaver is over the loom after winning an award for her handwoven tapestry.

Gyllian Thompson is delighted with the accolade from the Scottish Art Club for her entry, Linear Corridor.

The prize for achievement is a solo exhibition at the Rutland Square residence in Edinburgh, which will open in March 2023.

Gyllian said: “My work in the medium of tapestry was recognised as fine art alongside other painters and printmakers and sculptors.

My solo show in Edinburgh will feature all my work small pieces to larger work. I intend also to show my designs alongside my tapestries so that visitors can what I wove from.”

Much of Gyllian’s inspiration comes from the land in Dumfries and Galloway, taking inspiration from the shapes she sees on pathways while out walking.
