Co-owner of Carlisle’s Immortal Art tattoo studio Richard Batey, 41, started sideline business Immortal Cosmetic Solutions last year.
The businesses focuses on creating 3D nipples for mastectomy patients.
As well as realistic looking 3D nipples, Richard can also put his artistic skills to good use and create beautiful tattoos to cover scars for clients.
Richard, who has been tattooing since 2008, said: “My father died of cancer and I have friends who have had breast cancer.
“They have inspired me to try and make a difference.”
He added: “Women who have been through the trauma of a breast cancer diagnosis and after affects of the resulting treatments, including mastectomies, might find it difficult to come out the other end retaining their own self belief, confidence and equilibrium.”

The 3D nipple tattoos are created using specialist inks, carefully blended to create perfect skin tones, shadows and highlights.
Dad-of-three Richard is currently under sponsorship with a US-based ink company and is working closely with them to develop a colour palette specifically designed to meet all skin tone requirements.
The inks can also be used to try and blend vivid scars into an individual’s natural skin tone.
Discussing his reasons for setting up the side business, he said: “I think there is a shortfall in the NHS for this type of service.
“The NHS doesn’t currently provide 3D permanent nipple tattoos but the real driver for me was the opportunity to help people feel better about themselves.”
He added: “After speaking with women who had had undergone mastectomies, I realised what a huge impact the loss of one or both breasts can have on their body image and self esteem.
“By creating lifelike nipples and areolas, disguising scar tissue or removing tattoos from radiation treatment etc, I can hopefully help the healing process and help give a sense of normality to my clients.”

All prices are discussed with each client and Richard and his team are currently in the process of setting up a charitable trust called The Cherry on the Cake, which will help to fund procedures.
Richard is also in the process of setting up a studio in Harley Street, London, which he hopes to open later this year.
He said: “This is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done. To see a clients face in the mirror as they see their ‘new nipple’ for the first time is hugely rewarding and confirms to me how important this service is.“
