Teen gets tennis tips from Andy Murray

DUMFRIES tennis player Dominik Czopek recently took part in a star-studded training session in Dunblane.

The 13-year-old was invited to the session at the Cromlix Hotel by Judy Murray who has been following Dominik’s career since they first met last year in London.

During the session with Judy and tennis pro Ali Collins, Andy Murray himself came out to join the training, helping to lead Dominik through some drills and hit some balls together.

Judy later posted about the session on X, formerly Twitter and described the teenager as the ‘next generation’ of tennis talent.

Dominik’s mum Magdalena was also at the training session and dubbed the experience a ‘great boost’ for her son, saying: “Judy has been very supportive of Dominik and during the session she was giving him some tips and advice. She understands what it’s like as a parent to have a son who works hard in this sport, but also not to have easy access to coaches and training facilities.

“Living in Dumfries we drive Dominik to Stirling twice a week to train, so that’s two hours in the car each way and tennis itself is a very expensive sport, especially now that Dominik is wants to play at the national and international level so the next step is trying to find a sponsor, but having support from Judy and Andy is great boost for him.

“Dominik is a fighter and he works so hard at the game, no matter the weather or season he’ll be outside training himself and I’m very proud of him.”
