Teen in dock on flats fire charge

A TEENAGER has been charged with threatening to burn down a block of flats in Annan.

In court this week, James Hyde, 19, of Springbells Road in Annan, pleaded not guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the flats on August 17, turning the oven on full, leaving the oven door open, threatening to burn down the block of flats and making threatening remarks.
Trial was set for next month.
In addition, trial was set for the same day on a further charge, which Hyde denied, that while living at Meikleholm, Langholm, last November, he allegedly behaved in a threatening or abusive manner and made offensive remarks.
And sentence was deferred on another charge, which Hyde admitted, of breaching a bail condition by failing to appear in court at Dumfries.
