Teen rider turns out for Scotland

IT was a podium finish for Annandale teen equestrian Tara Kane at the International British Eventing UK Championships last week.

She was part of Team Scotland, which finished second overall at the event held at Bishop Burton College.

And the 15-year-old, left, who lives in Eastriggs and attends Lockerbie Academy, had the highest placed Scotland score, despite being the youngest in the squad.

The final result means she is now ranked eighth individual in the UK.

Her mum Margaret said: “Being selected to represent Scotland is a privilege and Tara certainly worked hard to achieve this.

“She had a good dressage score, a clear cross country round with no time penalties, and clear showjumping with no time penalties.

“Tara Kane and horse Annaveigh Vahey, we are so so proud of you.”
