The return of Rockerbie

A POPULAR music event will return to Lockerbie later this year, and anticipation is already building.

The Rockerbie Music Festival was founded in 2012 by James Turpie to bring live music to the heart of the town, with nine events held over the years.

James always wanted to reach the double-digit milestone with the festival but sadly passed away in 2023 following a battle with skin cancer and before reaching his goal. Now James’ family have picked up his torch and are organising the tenth festival for later this year at Lockerbie Town Hall, they took to social media to make the announcement earlier this week, stating: “James was passionate about bringing good music and bands to Lockerbie through the Rockerbie events.

“This year, we (his family) have decided to make James’s ambition a reality, bringing you a very special Rockerbie number ten in his memory. This will be a charity event, raising funds for a skin cancer charity.

“We promise a night filled with good music, dancing and nostalgia with a line up full of Rockerbie legends retuning to the stage. Keep your eyes peeled over the coming month for exciting line-up announcements.

“In the meantime, keep the date saved folks – 20 September 2025, Lockerbie Town Hall.”
