Thief caught by designer watch

AN Armani watch worn by a man suspected of being in possession of drugs led to his arrest on a charge of breaking into a house and leaving with a haul worth more than £30,000.

For the watch was reported as one of the items stolen from a house at Maxwelltown Station Road in Dumfries in March.
And before the Sheriff at Dumfries this week, Kenneth Orr, 35, admitted breaking into the house and stealing items ranging from jewellery and watches, to electronic tablets and computer games.
Fiscal depute Jennifer McGill told the court that the owners had been on holiday and neighbours who had been keeping a watch over the house saw a light on in the early morning and found it had been broken into and every room searched.
Police were given a list of items that were stolen and it was just a few days later that they wanted to question Orr and found him in possession of the Armani watch.
CCTV evidence showed him leaving his homeless accommodation after midnight and returning later in different clothes and with money after having had none previously.
Solicitor David Finnie said Orr who had a number of previous convictions, had been struggling with a drugs problem for a number of years.
Sheriff Scott Pattison jailed Orr for 40 months.
