Three face house blaze charge

THREE men have made brief appearances in court following a fire in which a house and a car were extensively damaged in Annan.

On Monday, James O’Brien, 22, and 33-year-old Christopher Harkins, both from Dumfries, appeared on a petition in private before Sheriff George Jamieson.

They were accused of charges of theft and wilful fire-raising.

No pleas were made and both were committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

On Tuesday, a third man made a brief appearance in court on a charge relating to last month’s incident.

Stephen McGarrity, from Dumfries, was on a petition in private before Sheriff Jamieson on a charge of wilful fire-raising.

No plea was made and he was remanded in custody for further examination.

In the early hours of November 6 a family escaped unhurt when a car and a house in Northfield Park in Annan were devastated by a blaze.
